Now that the warm weather is here, it's time to make your outdoor living space in Rochester, MN a place you can truly enjoy. Below are some tips I have put together for beautifying your home for summer.
TIPS FOR A HEALTHIER LAWN
Always mow with a sharp blade to prevent the grass from being torn.
Change the cutting direction every time you mow. For special occasions, mow the lawn twice in opposite directions!
This will give you lawn a square pattern and ensure all the blades are the same height.
DEER PROOFING YOUR LAWN:
For shrubs: Hang nylon stockings filled with hair or an unscented deodorant bar of soap in unobtrusive spots.
In flower beds: Mix moth balls or flakes on the ground around your be.
GREAT CONTAINER GARDENS
Chose plants that adapt to growing in containers or other pots. You may chose Cosmos, gaillardia, marigolds, impatiens or ornamentals.
Plants in containers will need more water than plants put directly in the ground. Water at least 3 times a week. For bag flowers, check daily.
Fertilize every 2 weeks for strong healthy plants all summer long!
